Rotary District 7210 in  the “Heart of the Hudson Valley” includes eight counties in upstate New York. Its Rotary Youth Exchange program provides A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY for students to broaden their education of peace and world understanding by affording them the opportunity to live with Host Families and attend High School in a foreign country.

As a Rotary Youth Exchange Student, you will spend an academic year (10 months) with Host Families in a foreign country. You will probably learn a new language, you will definitely learn a new way of living, and you will certainly grow as an individual.

While you are learning a new culture, you will be an Ambassador of your country. Sharing your culture, your traditions, and your ideas. You will be helping to make the world a smaller place, by sharing and making friends that will last a lifetime.

Rotary Youth Exchange is open to all high school students between the ages of 15-18, and is administered by Rotary clubs, districts and multidistrict groups. The Rotary Program today involves more than 85 countries and over 8,000 students each year.

As the word EXCHANGE applies while you are abroad ,District 7210 will be hosting a student much like you, from the country you are now visiting. As Ambassador’s of their country they too will be learning a new language, experiencing our life style, customs, and traditions, maybe right in your own home. You will be asked to assist your Sponsoring Rotary Club in finding suitable host families.

Ideal Youth Exchange candidates should be flexible, and have a willingness to try new things—that will enable them to become excellent cultural Ambassadors. You do not have to involved with Rotary in order to apply, although children of Rotarians are welcome to participate.
